Polished Presence in Action

Elevating Communication and Etiquette in Our Communities

By Christine Ferrera | Founder, Polished Message Etiquette

“Etiquette is not about perfection; it is about daily practice – in every setting, every day.”

Etiquette extends beyond table settings or polite gestures – it shapes how people are perceived, remembered, and respected. It opens doors, fosters trust, and creates opportunities that carry a lasting impact.

The connection with City Pride Magazine’s Charles Jackson began years ago at Toastmasters, rooted in a shared dedication to elevating communication skills. This collaboration expanded into training sessions for his team of journalists, equipping them with practical tools to enhance their professional presence, refine their storytelling, and engage audiences with confidence and poise.

Polished Message Etiquette has since extended this work into a wide range of organizations. Over the past decade, PME has served the Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, California State University, Fullerton, Learn4Life High Schools, the Los Angeles Urban League, the Miss Fontana and Teen Miss Fontana Scholarship Pageant, Redlands Kids Connection, and the Riverside Kappa League. PME programs have also reached youth on board the Queen Mary during the Miss and Teen Achieve Pageant, and additionally, presented an etiquette session for the young men of the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles.

These diverse partnerships reflect PME’s adaptable approach — from youth programs to professional seminars, from pageant preparation to corporate training. Each audience gains skills in poised communication, confident self-presentation, and professional etiquette that set them apart.

The approach is experiential and hands-on, focusing on key skills such as making effective eye contact, refining body language, navigating formal events, mastering professional conversations, and creating positive digital impressions. Whether in classrooms, corporate settings, or community events, participants leave equipped with strategies they can apply immediately.

“Every conversation, every introduction, every moment of presence is an opportunity to represent both personal values and the strength of the community.”

City Pride Magazine has long been a voice for the community. Contributing to that vision aligns perfectly with the mission of Polished Message Etiquette – equipping individuals to carry themselves with confidence, represent their organizations with excellence, and foster the kind of connections that strengthen the fabric of our community.
