Atkins is a devoted mother, longshore worker, businesswoman, and dedicated community advocate whose life has been defined by service, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the city she proudly calls home.
Raised in Compton, Inez brings more than 35 years of professional experience in the death care industry as a licensed mortuary, cemetery, and crematory professional. Throughout her career, she has compassionately served families across Southern California and the United States during some of their most difficult moments. Today, she continues her commitment to hard work and economic contribution as a longshore worker at the Port of Los Angeles, representing strength, discipline, and the working-class foundation that powers our communities.
Inez has a proven record of public service, having previously served on the Compton Public Safety Commission, where she worked to support safer neighborhoods and stronger community relations. She has empowered residents by teaching financial literacy and entrepreneurship, helping individuals and families build pathways toward long-term financial stability. Her commitment to economic growth is demonstrated through her collaboration with corporate leaders and local stakeholders, including her role in efforts that helped bring a Foot Locker location to Compton, creating jobs and expanding opportunity within the city.
