US Congresswoman Maxine Waters Attends Compton Resource Fair
Compton, CA – U.S. Congressional Representative Maxine Waters was invited as the guest speaker at the Compton Resource Fair on Saturday, August 2, 2025. The City of Compton, alongside Compton Advocates and District 1 Councilwoman Deidre Duhart, put together the 5th Annual Community Resource Fair at the Dollarhide Community Center.
Congresswoman Waters expressed her enthusiasm about the event, saying, “Compton does a fantastic job supporting families and children. That’s what community is all about! It’s truly inspiring to see the talent, creativity, and motivation of everyone involved in these initiatives. I’m so happy to be here and proud to represent Compton as part of my district.”
This incredible resource fair, put together by Councilwoman Duhart and Candace Leos Valdapena, was all about connecting with the community, breaking down barriers, and empowering residents with the tools they need to succeed.
They offered a wide range of services, including healthcare and housing assistance, educational programs, job training, legal aid, financial planning, and more. Attendees mingled with representatives from nonprofits, government agencies, schools, and community groups. Beyond the helpful resources, the fair was filled with exciting raffle prizes, fun giveaways, and activities for all ages, creating a joyful and welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.
