Sister Dreamer Sculpture Park

The Parliament-Funkadelic performs on 76th and Western.

On March 14th, 2026, a corner lot at 76th Street and Western Avenue in South Central
Los Angeles was transformed. Not into condos. Not into a parking structure. Into one of the
most extraordinary works of public art this city has ever seen. Hundreds of community members
filled the block, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, US Congresswoman Maxine Waters, LA Council members Marquise Dawson, Curren Price, and many others. Parliament-Funkadelic closed out the night. And at the center of it all stood Lauren Halsey — born right here in South Los Angeles — is watching a dream she first sketched as a community college student become real, in concrete and gold.

Lauren Halsey, an incredible American installation artist, unveiled “Sister Dreamer,” her architectural monument and sculpture park located at the corner of Western Avenue and 76th Street in Los Angeles. Thousands attended the street festival, which featured games and activities, food and gift vendors, and an opportunity to view the amazing sculptures in the southwest corner. The event also included a live DJ and a free concert performed by the legendary Parliament-Funkadelic.
