Compton 2026 Candidate Forums

Residents of Compton were formally introduced to candidates aspiring to serve as elected officials during two candidate forums held on Saturday, March 28th.

The first forum, the Compton Mayoral Candidate Forum, took place at Compton College at 12 PM and was hosted by the Compton Chamber of Commerce. It was moderated by Bishop Byron Smith in the Student Lounge/Multipurpose Room. Nearly 100 community members attended to hear from the candidates: Incumbent Mayor Emma Sharif, City Councilman Andre Spicer, Omar Bradley Jr., Inez “Tootie” Adkins, Bishop L.J. Guillory, and Marlowe Wilkerson.
Each mayoral candidate had one minute to introduce themselves and respond to a series of questions. Many participants and audience members expressed that one minute was insufficient for candidates to provide meaningful answers and thoroughly explain their plans for the mayoral position.
The forum was well-received, with candidates discussing topics such as the city budget, transparency among officials, marijuana dispensaries, crime, housing, and community needs. The candidates who participated in the second forum included:- Councilman Jonathan Bowers – District 3- Randle Hook – District 3- Alin Hamade – District 2- Bennie Tinson – District 2- Jace Dawson – District 2- Anthony Perry – District 2- Skyy Fisher – District 2- Brandon Mims – City Treasurer- Maxwell Burke – City Treasurer and Lynn Boone- City Clerk. Candidates for Mayor also attended the forum at St. Phillips.
