McKinley K-8 Integrated Arts School’s First Art H.E.A.L.S. Community Fest
The McKinley K-8 Integrated Arts School in Compton hosted its 1st Annual Art H.E.A.L.S Community Festival. Attendees participated in various arts and crafts activities and enjoyed musical performances, including bands, an orchestra, spoken word poetry, and ballet routines. In addition, there was a drum circle, yoga sessions, and much more.
The Compton community came out to experience this beautiful day and share their love of art, music, dance, and S.T.E.A.M. The love of the community was displayed at the event. Several community organizations partnered up to make this a fantastic event. Dominique Parris, a Community School Specialist and one of the event organizers spoke about what they are doing at the art festival. ” Mc Kinley K-8 Integrated Art School always had the vision to have an art festival where the students could showcase how they use art for wellness and to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. When I came, we brought all the partners together under one roof to bring McKinley’s vision to life. This is also inspired by Mrs Taylor and Mr. Griffin, and I help push it forward.”
