Angel City FC Hosts CUSD Soccer Clinic

Angel City Football Club hosted a soccer clinic at Centennial High School last weekend. The Club brought five of their coaches to train more than 90 students from the CUSD high schools and Compton Youth Soccer, which was coached by Ian Troost and UCLA soccer players Pablo Greenlee and Emily Pringle. The clinic was supported by Gatorade.

This was just the first soccer partnership CUSD has held, as the district looks to build a scalable soccer initiative bringing soccer programs to all 36 schools and 18,000 scholars in anticipation for the upcoming World Cup.

Currently, all CUSD high schools have both girls’ and boys’ soccer programs. The partnerships with ACFC and various soccer leagues will help advance these programs, and take them beyond just the high schools.

In addition, these programs will teach students about the power of sport to transform their lives and give them a behind-the-scenes look at the business of soccer. This summer CUSD will continue to provide students access to dynamic soccer programs.
