Alma’s Place Restaurant Celebrates Ten Years of Serving the Community

Alma’s Place has been a cherished dining destination in Compton for ten years. To celebrate this remarkable achievement, Alma Pleasant, along with her family and friends, hosted a grand event. On a radiant Saturday afternoon, the celebration unfolded in the restaurant’s parking lot, where Alma warmly invited the community and loyal customers to join in the festivities.






The gathering featured several VIPs and dignitaries who came to honor Alma, including Micah Ali, president of the CUSD School Board; CUSD Board members Michael Cooper and Sandra Moss; CUSD School Superintendent Darin Brawley; Compton Mayor Emma Shafif; Compton College Board member Barbara Calhoun; community activist Jackie Venters; and many others.





The legendary singer Jeannie Holiday captivated the guests with a moving solo performance, while Alma served a delightful lunch prepared by her outstanding restaurant. This joyous occasion marked a significant day in Compton, celebrating not just a decade of delicious food but also Alma’s unwavering commitment to her community. As the owner of a premier dining establishment, she exemplifies what it means to be a community servant. Alma is an active member of the CUSD School Board and has tirelessly worked for the City of Compton for many years. Her dedication to giving back embodies the spirit of an exceptional citizen of Compton.
