3rd Annual Compton Film Festival Returns, Spotlighting Emerging Voices and Actor Omar Miller Juneteenth Weekend

Compton, CA — May 26, 2026 — The Compton Film Festival (TCFF) proudly announces the return of its 3rd Annual Compton Film Festival, a vibrant celebration of independent filmmakers, bold storytelling, and the creative voices of Compton and beyond. The festival will take place June 20–21, 2026, at Compton College, bringing together filmmakers, artists, industry professionals, and community members for a powerful weekend of film, culture, and connection.
Honoring the spirit of Juneteenth weekend, this year’s theme, “Unapologetically Free,” celebrates artistic expression, cultural pride, and the power of storytelling as a tool for liberation.
Joining the festival’s prestigious lineup is acclaimed actor and producer Omar Miller. Known for his powerful performances and versatility, Miller recently made Oscar history with his star turn in Ryan Coogler’s genre film Sinners alongside Michael B. Jordan. An NAACP Image Award nominee for his roles in HBO’s Ballers and Apple TV+’s The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey with Samuel L. Jackson, Miller’s career spans blockbusters like 8 Mile and Transformers to his work as a director and producer under his Big Easy Productions banner.
“When we established The Compton Film Festival our goal was to build an enduring film institution that would both entertain and educate by exposing multi-generational audiences to an often-overlooked aspect of American culture,” said Mark Richardson, Founder of The Compton Film Festival.
Miller joins a leadership and ambassador team that includes Jared “J.” Snow, a Compton-born filmmaker and Head Writer for the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards. “Having a role in The Compton Film Festival allows me to build bridges in the industry, stay connected to the arts, and bring like-minded individuals together from my community,” added Torrey Antonio Crowe, Vice President of Operations.
Now in its third year, the festival continues to expand its impact, showcasing a diverse slate of films spanning narrative, documentary, shorts, and experimental work. Attendees can expect curated screenings, filmmaker Q&As, and panel discussions featuring veterans like Miller to inspire the next generation of creators.

About Omar Miller: Omar Miller is a seasoned actor whose career began while attending San
Jose State University, leading to a breakout role in 8 Mile. His extensive credits include CSI:
Miami, The Unicorn, True Lies, and Spike Lee’s Miracle at St. Anna. A prolific voice actor, he
stars in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Rugrats reboot. Miller also hosts the
O-ZONE podcast and the travel series Weekend Fix.
