The California Ethnic Media Awards, Expo, and Conference 2024

The California Ethnic Media Awards, Expo, and Conference occurred in Sacramento from August 27th to 28th at the Sheraton Grand Hotel. This event brought together writers, reporters, photographers, and communicators to address current challenges and promote unity.

It was well-organized, and participants were eager to connect and share their diverse forms of media. City Pride Magazine and various California media outlets participated in the event, including newspapers, TV and radio stations, magazines, podcasts, and other community reporting organizations.

Sandy Close of Ethnic Media Services, Regina Wilson of California Black Media, and several other media leaders and organizations collaborated to organize the conference, expo, and awards presentation ceremony.

Notable political leaders spoke at this event, such as California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, California State Attorney General Rob Bonta, Fiona Ma, California State Treasurer, and California Assemblymember Buffy Wicks.

The conference’s central theme was “Stop the Hate, Show the Love,” which was promoted through various workshops and displays with active participation from all attendees.
