LA Civil Rights Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Latinas Leading Change Panel Discussion at the Latino Theatre Company
Los Angeles, CA – In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated annually from September 15 to October 15, the LA Civil Rights Department proudly held the “Latinas Leading Change: Trailblazers in Advocacy, Philanthropy, Business, Academia, Entertainment, and Wealth,” on October 8, 2024, at the Latino Theatre Company.
Latinas Leading Change: Trailblazers in Advocacy, Philanthropy, Politics, Academia, and Wealth Building, was a dynamic panel discussion celebrating Latino Heritage Month. This panel highlighted the impactful leadership and contributions of Latinas across various sectors, showcasing their role in driving social change, breaking barriers, and setting the stage for future generations.
The event was led by Capri Maddox, Esq., Executive Director, Los Angeles Civil Rights Department
Sonja Diaz, Co-Founder of the Latina Futures, 2050 Lab, civil rights attorney, and policy advisor renowned for her pioneering work in advancing equitable representation and opportunities for Latinas. Sonja champions a vision where Latinas have equal access to leadership roles, contributing to a thriving society for all.
Beatriz Acevedo, CEO of SUMA Wealth, a financial tech company that empowers Latinos through financial education and wealth-building strategies. Beatriz is a trailblazing entrepreneur dedicated to economic empowerment within the Latino community.
Celine Cordero, Deputy Chief of Staff for LA Mayor Karen Bass, brings a wealth of experience in public service and government operations, contributing to policy-making that impacts the broader Los Angeles area.
Liliana Perez, Senior Director of Cultural Affairs at the LA Chargers, leverages her position to foster community engagement and promote diversity in sports management and operations.
Priscilla Chavez, Business Development Manager and Inclusion at PCL Construction, where her strategies and leadership have transformed corporate approaches to inclusivity and equality in the construction industry.
