TEACH-LA is nurturing the next generation of educators by offering lifelong career paths while bolstering the early childhood education workforce.

TEACH-LA is a groundbreaking workforce development initiative designed to solve pressing issues in the education industry: grow the Early Childhood workforce and provide a living wage career path.

The program focuses on preparing educators in Los Angeles County to teach and nurture children between the ages of 18 months and 4 years old.

By providing educational opportunities, on-the-job work experience, and a supportive community, TEACH-LA empowers aspiring teachers to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young learners.

Underinvestment in early childhood education, alongside a severe shortage of educators, is
impeding children’s ability to receive a quality education, especially among low-income and
disadvantaged communities. To address this challenge, PACE launched TEACH-LA in early 2024, a workforce initiative that equips low-income individuals with the training and support needed to become early childhood educators for children aged 18 months to 4 years.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, TEACH-LA provides an entry point and pathway into the early childhood education sector, where aspiring teachers can earn an income while gaining firsthand work experience. In partnership with local community colleges and institutions of higher learning, TEACH-LA supports program participants in fulfilling the requirements necessary to obtain a teaching permit.

As TEACH-LA grows, PACE remains committed to fostering career pathways, supporting access to good jobs, and ensuring quality education for all.
