Black lives disproportionately impacted by distracted driving and speeding
Black people experience a passenger vehicle fatality rate 73% higher than their white counterparts, and a 65% higher fatality rate compared to white pedestrians. June is National Safety Month, and California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and Caltrans are calling on all drivers to help raise awareness about current dangerous driving behavior and its disproportionate impact on Black communities.
The attached press release encourages everyone to prioritize safety by reminding drivers of the best behaviors to practice when behind the wheel. We’d appreciate it if you shared this with your readers to create safer roadways this National Safety Month and beyond.
Thank you!
